The bill for emergency repairs to the HVAC system and water slide tower at the Paul Reynolds Community centre is nearly $1-million, and who will foot that bill is up in the air.
The contract to do the work at the facility has been awarded to Newfound Mechanical Limited for $935,000.
However, due to an ongoing lawsuit between the general contractor and the city over the deficiencies of the building, it is not known at this time who will be paying the bill.
Councillor Ian Froude says the results of the lawsuit will determine who pays for the cost of the repairs.
Froude says despite the emergency repairs, the centre is still on schedule to reopen at the end of October.
He says he has been assured by staff the work will be completed within the original timeline.
