The City of St. John’s continues to regularly update the status of roads and trails damaged by heavy rain and snowmelt this past weekend.
Late yesterday, officials said the Rennie’s River trail system between Portugal Cove Road and King’s Bridge Road would be closed for several weeks due to washouts and damage to the boardwalk.
All Grand Concourse Authority trails are also being inspected with some sections closed due to damage and caution signs in place. The city says temporary repairs are ongoing as weather allows.
As of late yesterday, a number of city roads had reopened to at least one lane of traffic, except for Blackhead Road, from Linegar Avenue to Jordan Place, Syme’s Bridge, and Waterford Bridge Road from Cowan Avenue to Corpus Christi Church.
Officials say there’s been a significant amount damage to roads, parks, trails and private property throughout the city in the wake of Sunday’s weather.
They’re asking people to be patient and give yourself extra time for the commute as crews continue to assess the damage and make repairs.
