For the Opposition Tories, the regionalization plan hinges on what it will cost the current and new taxpayers.
PC MHA and municipal affairs critic Joedy Wall says that’s critical to the process, yet remains unknown.
He says he’s yet to see how the plan will be rolled out, nor has there been any word of a cost-benefit analysis to better inform decisions.
He says while the premier has pledged mandatory taxation for all, little is known about how that will be achieved.
The Greene report recommended eliminating Local Service Districts and making some level of tax mandatory across the board.
Wall says he hopes the latest report on regionalization isn’t destined to gather dust on a shelf like others before it.
