More than 12,000 people have joined a newly created Facebook group created to provide more information on COVID cases in the province’s schools.
Administrator Amanda Bambury, a mother of two school-aged children, has an autoimmune disorder, and says she created the group to provide information that was not forthcoming from the school and public health system. She’s been amazed at the response.
She says it came as the result of a government decision that positive cases in the classroom would not need to be reported. She felt the only way should could make an informed decision on whether or not to send her children to school or pull them out based on her personal situation was to get as much information as possible.
Bambury is asking people not to name children, but can report a positive case in a classroom. She says albums have been created for each school in the province, to make things organized and easy to find.
