The Crown is seeking up to eight months in jail for a firefighter convicted of assault causing bodily harm.
47-year-old George Pottle, a lieutenant with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, was found guilty by a Supreme Court judge in November.
He was acquitted on additional charges of assault with a weapon — namely beer bottles — and uttering threats.
The charges stemmed from a raucous day of fighting with his then-girlfriend at their Kilbride home in April of 2018.
While the Crown is seeking jail time, the defence is seeking a suspended sentence for Pottle.
Justice Donald Burrage will sentence him on March 4th.
A month later, Pottle will face another trial on a separate assault charge from 2017.
