A new piece of equipment at The Gathering Place’s dental clinic is going to help in achieving more comprehensive diagnoses for patients.
The new Panoramic X-Ray Machine was gifted to the organization yesterday by the Canadian International Dental Foundation.

Dr. Stewart Gillies, who’s with the foundation, says the machine rotates around your head to give a comprehensive view of your jaws, neck and sinuses, allowing for a more immediate diagnosis.
Gillies says the decision to donate the equipment was an easy one. He says for the foundation’s 10th anniversary they wanted to help treat vulnerable patients here in Canada, and because they were actively involved in setting up the clinic at The Gathering place it was a “natural fit.”
Meanwhile, things have been running smoothly at the Gathering Place’s Dental Clinic Since it first opened late last year.
Dr. Linda Blakey is a dentist at the centre. She says the first few months were rocky, but things are much more efficient now.
She says consistent volunteers and better organization have really helped.
