The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation has announced that the trail through the Cataracts Provincial Park will be closed until further notice.

The department says the trail sustained heavy damage to the boardwalk and stairs that led to the gorge after heavy rainfalls in the area.

Trail users are asked to avoid the area.
