The federal minister of labour is slamming recent media reports suggesting a rift in the federal cabinet on the future of Bay du Nord.
Radio-Canada last week reported that some members of the Liberal caucus will not support the offshore oil project which is considered by many to be critical to the province’s economic development.
Minister Seamus O’Regan says suggestions of a division within the federal caucus have caused problems. He claims the report was based on “complete conjecture” and has “caused nothing but grief.”
O’Regan says a regulatory process is in place and projects are being built as a result. He says everything currently happening with Bay du Nord is “totally in keeping with the (environmental assessment) process.”
