A teacher has been found guilty of sexual assault and sexual exploitation against a female student.
39-year-old Noel Strapp committed the offences between 2014 to 2016 while he was employed at Roncalli Central High in Avondale.
The well-known wrestling coach admitted having a close relationship with the victim, who is now 22, saying it was tied to her elite athletic status and his position as her coach.
But the woman, whose identify is banned from publication, testified they had dozens of sexual encounters while she was 16 and 17 years old.
Strapp denied it all.
In the end, a judge concluded that the woman was more credible than Strapp, saying she didn’t embellish and was forthright during the trial.
Strapp has never been in custody since being charged in 2019, and will remain free on conditions until sentencing.
Those details will be worked out when the case returns to court next week.
