Work continues on repairing damage caused by Friday’s rainstorm which dumped over 100 mm of water on parts of the west coast. Highway crews are dealing with numerous washouts and lane reductions on the TCH and other roads. Detours are in place in areas where the road has been closed.
Transportation officials says repairs will be completed over the next few days, some sooner than others depending on the scope of work.
Meanwhile, more wet and windy weather is on the way around mid-week, according to meteorologist Wanda Batten of the Gander Weather Office. It will affect virtually the entire island with the exception of the Northern Peninsula which will get snow.
She says it will be a fraction of what we had late last week but southeasterly and southwesterly winds will be very strong.
There are warnings out for Labrador as well where brisk winds will combine with cold temperatures to produce bitter wind chill values.
