Damage from that rainstorm late last week will top a half-a-million dollars as crews try to reopen roads, including the TCH.
Backfilling continues on the TCH between Routes 490 and 461 as crews try to complete the work over the next couple of days but that depends on many factors including the weather tomorrow with more rain on the way, though nowhere near the amount we saw on Friday.
Transportation Minister Elvis Loveless says it has been difficult trying to keep up with things during a winter of rain and snow, freeze and thaw. In Flat Bay alone there were six washouts, two of which have been repaired.
They hope to have a good result in that area by the end of the day.
Work continues today on repairs to the Trans-Canada Highway, west of Route 490 where culverts are being installed.
