A St. John’s man is facing 40 charges linked to alleged indecent and harassing phone calls.

60-year-old Brent Stevenson is accused of making the calls to dozens of different people in the past year at least.

Six of the 40 charges allege he threatened to kill or seriously harm the people he called.

The Crown says it’s an extraordinary case given the sheer number of calls that Stevenson is accused of making.

They say they’re in the process of reviewing each charge to provide the defence with disclosure as soon as possible.

The matter returns to court in late March.
