Police have taken a man into custody following the seizure of a gun and drugs from a home in Bunyan’s Cove on the Bonavista Peninsula.

Clarenville RCMP say 23-year-old Joshua Penney, who was recently released from jail with a life-time firearms ban, was arrested on Thursday following a search of his home.

Officers located a shotgun and a quantity of prescription drugs, as well as other drug paraphernalia and items consistent with drug trafficking.

Penney is facing a number of weapons-related charges, while drug-trafficking charges are pending following the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
