The provincial government is reacting to concerns by the forestry critic about wood supply and permits in central Newfoundland.
Exploits MHA Pleaman Forsey said this week that people who may have commercial ideas are having trouble gaining access to the timber supply, but Minister Derrick Bragg doesn’t see that as the case.
He says they are “not seeing anybody” coming forward in central with any types of requests that will show any sort of secondary processing.
Bragg says if you drive through the province, you see loads of wood coming and going every day.
There are currently 242 commercial permits for timber in the province.
