The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s within the community through providing information like where people can turn for help and support when they need it.
Executive director with the society Shirley Lucas says the event serves as a fundraiser which helps sustain programming.
There are over 9,000 people in Newfoundland and Labrador who are affected by dementia and Lucas says that doesn’t include family members. She says the event has seen a fabulous turn out so far today and she calls it a great opportunity to connect with the community.
