Applications for financial compensation are now open for people whose property was damaged during the rainstorm on the southwest coast last November.
The funds will be available through the Newfoundland and Labrador Disaster Financial Assistance Program.
The province has applied to the federal government to recover eligible expenses and will work to maximize benefits under the federal disaster funding assistance program.
Compensation will be based on criteria established by both the provincial and federal programs. However, this is not an insurance program and only allows for compensation for items deemed essential. People are asked to contact their insurance companies first as compensation usually isn’t given for items that are insurable.
The deadline to submit a claim is April 29. People can find more information by clicking here, or by calling 1-888-395-5611.
