Corner Brook RCMP say a 30-year-old man has died following an avalanche on Sunday afternoon.
Officials say the snowmobile the man was driving got swept up in the avalanche that occurred in the backcountry area known as “Charlie’s Bottom.”
Fellow snowmobilers brought the injured man out of the area.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Corner Brook RCMP is investigating the incident and has engaged the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The RCMP is urging the public to avoid the area at this time in the event further avalanches occur.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up for the man’s family to help pay for funeral costs.
