The town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove is once again cautioning visitors to be mindful in and around the town’s famous ice wall.
Meltwater cascading down the cliffside at Middle Cove Beach freezes creating a spectacular ice wall that is a draw for photographers and others.
The ice can break off though, causing a significant hazard. A little boy was seriously injured a few years ago when he was struck by a piece of ice on Middle Cove Beach.
Mayor Denis Hickey says while the ice wall is beautiful, it can be very dangerous.
The town has erected signs in the area and has shared social media posts reminding people to keep a safe distance.
