Lela Evans has crossed the floor to join the NDP in the House of Assembly, a move she believes will be supported by the people of her district.
Evans announced her move Monday, with Interim Leader Jim Dinn and party president Kyle Rees by her side.
Evans says there is support for the NDP in her district.

She says if she had decided to join the NDP in 2019 when she first ran, she wouldn’t have had to campaign because the party is looked upon favourably in the district. She has spoken with some people about her decision and says they are pleased with it.
As for a potential run for the leadership of the party, Evans provided no indication that she is interested in the position.
She says her role right now is to support Jim Dinn and Jordan Brown, and when it comes to the leadership she will support the best candidate that comes forward.
