A novice driver was arrested near Corner Brook on Sunday for suspected drug-impaired driving.
RCMP pulled the truck over on the TCH around 3:30 a.m.
They say the driver, 22-year-old Kyle Madore, showed signs of cannabis impairment and tested positive on a roadside screening device.
Inside the truck, police found more than 50 grams of cannabis and a knife—which he was on court-ordered conditions not to possess.
Currently, Madore is charged with possession of more than 50 grams of cannabis and breach of a court ordered release conditions. A charge of impaired driving may be laid pending the results of a blood test.
As well, he was ticketed for having cannabis improperly stored in his vehicle and for driving after midnight as a novice driver.
Madore made a court appearance Monday and has been released from custody.
