The Association for New Canadians is preparing to accept refugees from the Ukraine as millions flee their homeland to escape the Russian invasion, but they still don’t know how many they could be accepting and when.

Executive Director Megan Morris says they are still waiting for details as to how people will be arriving. She says they don’t know the pathway people will be using to get here, whether that’s through the traditional refugee stream or if they will be coming as temporary residents for example.

Morris says they’re already getting calls from people wanting to help out.

She says they’re suggesting that people leave their name and number along with what they’d like to do to help. She says they’re compiling a list of how people can help, and connecting with community regarding what may be needed.
