A Labradorian and Nunatsiavut beneficiary has been named as the new Medical Officer of Health for Labrador-Grenfell Health.

Dr. Joanne McGee’s career began as a registered nurse—working in acute care and long-term care in this province and Manitoba.

She has been a family physician with Labrador-Grenfell Health for the last year and has served as a clinical assistant professor and member of the Northern Family Medicine Residency training program.

Born and raised in Labrador, McGee says she understands the connection between social determinants of health and health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
