It’s going to be a windy day on the island.
The province was battered by significant rains and winds last night, with the highest rainfall totals being reported on the south coast, with totals between 30 and 50 mm.
The highest winds were clocked at 140 km/h in the Placentia Bay area. While the system is moving out east, the winds will persist, according to Environment Canada Meteorologist Jeremy March.
He says the winds were coming from the south last night, but they have switched around to the west. Eventually the system will move out towards Greenland as the winds die down.
