Premier Andrew Furey is in Ottawa today for the address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Ottawa announced that the Ukrainian President had accepted an invitation to address the Canadian Parliament last week.
Zelenskyy will speak virtually, addressing the situation in his country.
Furey calls the address “historic,” saying that it will give a greater understanding of what is going on.
The province recently opened a Ukrainian support desk within the Department of Immigration and Furey says they are looking at ways of enhancing that service to show that the province is open to supporting Ukrainian refugees.
He says they are looking at ways to fast-track refugees coming into the province. In particular, they are looking at Poland, where most of the 2.2 million refugees have landed.
Meanwhile, Premier Andrew Furey will speak to media following president Zelenskyy’s address.
The specifics of when he will be speaking is not yet known. VOCM News will have the latest as soon as it is available.
