The Memorial University Students Union has postponed the online webvote for the MUNSU General Election due to a technological error.
The union says the issues are with the MUN banner system.
They have received numerous reports of students facing errors and barriers in accessing the webvote.
They say a successful test vote was done in preparation, and all procedures that worked well in the past were used.
It’s the union’s understanding that the issue is being caused by a re-work of the banner system on the university’s end.
MUNSU says they will relaunch and restart the election when they have a solution to the errors. They are also exploring paper ballots and alternative voting methods.
The union says they appreciate everyone’s patience as holding the election has been difficult given the Omicron wave, and they are working to provide a fair and accessible election.
