The Opposition is accusing the provincial government of trying, but failing, to address the rising cost of living.
Opposition Leader David Brazil calls the measures outlined on Tuesday as “too little, too late.”
He wants to know what measures have been taken to address rising costs for all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
He called the announcements welcome news for “a small part of our society who are very vulnerable,” but he questioned why the province refused to reduce taxes to help with the cost of fuel and groceries, like has happened in other provinces.
Finance Minister Siobhan Coady fired back at the Opposition, blaming the PCs for the fiscal situation the province is currently facing.
She accused the PCs of being “disingenuous” in lecturing government on financial responsibility.
