The provincial department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture is reminding poultry owners, regardless of the size of their flock, to follow strict biosecurity measures to protect birds from the avian flu.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s disease investigation has concluded on one of the two outbreak locations on the Avalon. The flu was first detected late last year.
The CFIA says the investigation at the other location will finish in the coming weeks.
While no new detections have been found on the island, there have been cases in domestic flocks in Nova Scotia and wild birds throughout North America related to the outbreak.
All poultry owners, regardless of flock numbers, are urged to follow strict biosecurity measures to protect birds from #AvianFlu.
