Count St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen among those hoping the Bay du Nord project gets the environmental green light.
The federal minister’s decision was due March 6th, but the deadline was extended for another 40 days.
Breen says Equinor’s offshore oil development will mean jobs and revenue – not just for the city, but the entire province.
Breen isn’t privy to discussions between the provincial and federal governments, but knows there is “a lot of nervousness right now” in the community.
He hopes the federal government will make the decision to approve the project quickly.
