Voting for the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup is in the final stages with the U15 Kenny’s Pond Kings from Mount Pearl being named one of 12 regional finalists for the award.
This year, the Good Deeds Cup rallied to make hockey more inclusive for all. The Shift Change initiative encouraged teams to submit good deeds that helped get people from all backgrounds and abilities on the ice.
The Kenny’s Pond Kings did just that, teaming up with the Association for New Canadians to teach new Canadians how to skate through their new hockey program, which they developed through fundraising efforts.
As a regional finalist, the team won $2,000 for their charity. Now, they look to the people of the province to help them be crowned the 2021-22 Good Deeds Cup Champions, which carries with it a $100,000 prize for their charity.
Voting is open until Saturday and the winner will be announced live during Hockey Night in Canada on April 16.
