The provincial government is making improvements to its Smoking Cessation Program to help low-income smokers quit the habit.
Effective today, those who are eligible can avail of another 12 weeks of treatment under the prescription drug program for prescription drugs Champix® or Zyban® or a nicotine patch, gum lozenge or inhaler.
Nicotine Quick Mist will also be added as a benefit under the special authorization process of the prescription drug program to be used in combination with other therapies.
Co-payments will also be reduced from $75 dollars per 12 weeks of treatment to $18 dollars.
