A teenager from Stephenville Crossing has been arrested for drug-impaired driving after a single-vehicle crash near Stephenville.

The car went off Route 490 shortly before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. RCMP Bay St. George say the driver, a 19-year-old man tested positive on roadside drug screening equipment.

Inside the vehicle, police found a quantity of unstamped contraband cannabis, 11 grams of shatter (a potent synthetic form of cannabis), 47 strips of suboxone, 40 tablets of oxycodone and 10 tablets of suspected codeine as well as drug paraphernalia and items consistent with drug trafficking.

The man has been released from custody but drug charges are pending. The car has been impounded.
