The President of NAPE is welcoming more money being put into the health care system in the provincial budget, but says the problems facing health care go beyond money.
Some major changes are coming to the delivery of health care as the result of the Health Accord. Not surprising to many is the amalgamation of four health authorities into a single health board.
NAPE President Jerry Earle says there is still a lot of work to be done to address major issues within the health care system.
He says money is not the answer, the human resource problem being experienced in the system is “not sustainable.” He referenced diversions currently happening in Harbour Breton and the Bonnews Lodge in Badger’s Quay as examples.
