After missing one Regatta a couple of years ago and doing last year’s with significantly-reduced numbers both in the boats and pondside, the Royal St. John’s Regatta returns in full this year—with some expanded options for rowers.
The changes involve the senior men’s short course and the senior women’s long course. It will be the first time in history that crews will have the opportunity to register for either course length.
President Noelle-Thomas Kennell says they will trial the new races during the June Holiday Race Day, June 25.
Ashley Peach, vice-president and captain of the course, says if they’re successful in June, the new race categories will be implemented for Time Trials and Regatta Day.
The 2022 rowing season launches May 2.
