The Commission of Legislative Standards is calling for Independent MHA Eddie Joyce to be suspended from the House of Assembly.
Bruce Chaulk’s report was tabled in the legislature this afternoon and deals with what he calls Joyce’s serious, continued non-compliance with the House of Assembly Act.
Namely, that Joyce failed to provide financial documents surrounding conflict of interest provisions in the Act.
Chaulk is blunt in his report, stating that since June of last year, Joyce has “repeatedly and wilfully refused to provide the requested information.”
Joyce scoffs at the report, insisting he has supplied what has been requested, albeit after the 60-day deadline.
But he says there’s a list of others who also missed that window, yet have not been subjected to the same level of discipline.
The House must debate and vote on the report and recommended suspension, but that won’t happen until after the Easter break
Meanwhile, Joyce is suing Chaulk, former Premier Dwight Ball, and MHAs Perry Trimper and Sherry Gambin-Walsh in Supreme Court for defamation over the handling of a harassment complaint that saw him turfed from the Liberal cabinet and caucus four years ago.
