The winners of the recent Science Fairs Council Awards have been named.
A virtual awards ceremony took place last weekend to recognize the work of young scientists competing in two virtual fairs held earlier this month.
The Cenovus Energy Eastern Newfoundland Science Fair included 60 projects by a total of 66 students from five schools in the metro region: Gonzaga, Holy Heart, Holy Spirit, MacDonald Drive and St. Bonaventure’s College.
The 3rd annual NL Virtual Science Fair for the Labrador, Western and Central Newfoundland region included six projects by nine students from six schools: Christ the King in Rushoon, Grandy’s River Collegiate in Burnt Islands, Indian River in Springdale, Lake Melville School in North West River and St. Lawrence Academy in St. Lawrence.
A total of 40 medals were awarded.
Best in Fair went to Sophia Zhang, a grade 8 student at St. Bon’s, and Antonia Lundrigan and Edmund Pelley, grade 11 students from St. Lawrence Academy.
