Among the budget items announced last week was the elimination of immigration application fees under the Provincial Nominee Program.
The hope is that it will make it easier for people to bring in family and loved ones, and for employers to bring workers into the province.
The fees involved include the $250 dollar application fee for people applying as a skilled worker, and the $1000 dollar application cost for people applying as an entrepreneur.
The aim is to help government reach its goal of welcoming 5100 newcomers annually to Newfoundland and Labrador by 2026.
