The capital city will be releasing another “what we heard” document on the Rennies River Flood Mitigation Project.
During a public engagement process from March 8th to the 22nd, the city saw feedback through various channels, including a virtual engagement session that was attended by 66 people.
Numerous issues were raised regarding the proposal, including the need to focus on “upstream issues” first and look at alternatives, questions around drainage and flooding risks to nearby properties, requests for more data and time to review the proposal and all options.
The city notes there were two people in favour of moving ahead with the project.
The information will be given consideration before the city submits its report to the Department of Environment and Climate Change. As part of the Environmental Assessment Process, there will be one more opportunity for public comment before a decision is made by the minister.
The what we heard document is up for discussion at today’s city council meeting.
