A private interment is planned for a woman who made a significant and lasting impression on a St. John’s neighbourhood.
Freddie Boudreau was the second-generation operator of Walsh’s Store, a convenience store on the corner of Campbell and St. Clare’s avenues that has served the area for more than seven decades.
Freddie passed away on Monday leaving an entire neighbourhood in mourning. She was known for writing up tabs for people who needed those essentials while waiting on their checks and offering up advice and wisdom to her many customers.
The store closed up earlier this year after Freddie became sick, prompting the creation of a Facebook page where people shared their memories. Her obituary says Freddie read the posts, remembering fondly all the people and memories shared.
Donations in her memory can be made to the SPCA, Food Bank or Froude Avenue Community Centre. A private interment will take place at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road.
