A dialogue has opened between protestors and Fortis.
Thursday, a small group of people demonstrated in St. John’s to help communities affected by the shutdown of coal-fired power plants operated by Tucson Electric Power, a company run by Fortis, in Arizona and New Mexico.
Demonstrators say while there are no concrete agreements, Fortis CEO David Hutchens and Tucson CEO Susan Gray met with them for almost an hour to talk about a just transition. While they are grateful for the meeting and conversation, the organizers say Fortis still must address the issues.
