St. Mary’s Bay has a fish plant, new owners who have access to raw material, workers who want a job, but no license for the plant.
The plant last operated about five years ago, but St. Mary’s Mayor Steve Ryan says they have been about a year trying to acquire a licence.
They have gone through all the channels of the application process, but are unable to get anywhere.
Ryan says millions of pounds of crab are being trucked out every year and, along with it, jobs.
