A 25-year-old man from Newville on New World Island is facing child exploitation charges following a lengthy police investigation.
The RCMP-RNC IICE Team has charged Christian Baggs with online child exploitation after a search of his home in May of 2021 prompted by information received about the sharing of child pornography.
A number of electronic devices were seized at the time and sent for forensic analysis. Police say officers obtained evidence in support of criminal charges, including transmitting child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Police say child pornography cases involve complex forensic examination, often taking nine to 12 months before charges are laid.
The accused was arrested by police last week and released to appear in Gander provincial court on June 21.
