A teenager has been charged after a vehicle was stolen from a residence in Corner Brook in the wee hours of Monday but not before some drama.
RNC first got the report at about 10 a.m. and later observed the stolen 2018 Nissan Qashqai around 4 p.m. going through two stop signs in succession. They tried to pull it over but the driver fled at a high rate of speed so police decided not to pursue it. About 20 minutes later, they located the stolen—and empty—car in the Dunfield Park area.
The subsequent investigation resulted in a 17-year-old being charged with numerous offences including theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $5,000, flight from police, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
The teen was held overnight to appear in court this morning.
