The CEO of the C-NLOPB is praising the restart of the West White Rose project.
The news was announced Tuesday morning at the start of the Energy NL conference in St. John’s to a room full of industry watchers and stakeholders.
C-NLOPB CEO Scott Tessier says the restart is “big” and “positive” news for the industry, the province, and the country.
He says the project not only means a significant economic benefit but significant momentum for the sector and that basin as a whole.
Port Reaction
The decision to restart the West White Rose Project is also coming as welcome news to the Port of Argentia.
Work at the site came to a grinding halt in 2020 when the pandemic caused oil prices to plummet.
The Port says it is looking forward to the benefits to the local supply community through the remaining construction period and the successful completion and tow-out in 2025.
It’s expected up to 1,700 people could be back working on-site during peak construction.
