Police in the metro area are investigating what they say is a suspicious house fire that occurred overnight.

First responders were called to the fire, which occurred on Empire avenue in St. John’s, shortly after midnight.

According to police, an older model home was in flames with a significant amount of smoke billowing from it.

There’s no word on any possible injuries and the investigation is ongoing.
