The man charged with sexually assaulting a teenager in Cowan Heights two years ago is denying he did it, or even that he was there.
That’s despite testimony to the contrary from police officers, witnesses, as well as the girl he’s accused of attacking.
30-year-old Stephen Hopkins, a repeat sex offender, is representing himself in the Supreme Court trial.
And Tuesday morning he called himself to testify, providing the Crown with the opportunity to cross-examine.
In the end, he denied everything, having previously accused the police of conspiring to charge and convict him.
That concludes evidence in the trial, which has already taken three weeks longer than expected.
The Crown and Hopkins will sum up their cases before Justice Donald Burrage next Monday.
