A metro-area elementary school teacher believes hosting pride events at school plays an important educational role in the move towards more inclusivity.
Rennie’s River Elementary held a Rainbow Dance Party yesterday, a student-led initiative in support of pride month.
Students gathered on the playground to dance, play, wave their pride flags and show support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Principal Jennifer Vokey-Tobin says there is an educational aspect to such events.
She says such events never took place when she was in school. However, the world is becoming more aware and it is our responsibility to do better.
