The federal government is in the process of setting up energy resource tables to look a ways to build provincial economies during the green transition, and Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the first on the list.
That’s according to Federal Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson.
He says the tables will help develop economic strategies province by province as the country transitions to a low carbon future.
He is already in talks with the province, and within the next few months they hope to have an action plan for how the tables will look.
Wilkinson believes there are lots of opportunities for this province in the green economy.
He believes wind energy has a big future here—in particular the conversion of wind to hydrogen. As well, he cites opportunities for the extraction and processing of critical minerals.
