The town of Botwood is unveiling its latest mural project this weekend.
“Kraken World” by artist Craig Goudie features a variety of underwater species including sharks and whales and the legendary Kraken in a nod to neighbouring Glover’s Harbour where a giant squid was famously caught back in 1878.
Botwood Mural Arts Society President Trudy Stuckless says the giant mural is painted on five garage doors on the side of the Exploits Valley Port Corporation offering an underwater view of the creatures of the deep.
She says Goudie used the doors like portals so that the viewer gets a glimpse at the Kraken’s world as if exploring in a submarine or through the windows of a giant aquarium.
The official unveiling is scheduled for 3 p.m. tomorrow.
