The Conservation Corps’ Green Team is back in the Lundrigan’s Marsh area of St. John’s, helping to restore and rehabilitate the important wetland.
The 55.8 acre marsh, located in the middle of the capital city’s busy industrial east end, is the largest cattail marsh in eastern Newfoundland.
Team Lead Jen White says it’s an important habitat for birds and other species.
She says it’s a popular spot for birders, and they even noticed evidence of moose living in the marsh as well.
The Green Team will be joined by St. John’s Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary and Councillor Maggie Burton tomorrow who will help with tree planting.
