A young boy lost his life at a swimming hole in Conception Bay South yesterday.
He was at a popular swimming hole in Seal Cove known as “The Still.”
Efforts by emergency crews to revive him were unsuccessful.
The 6-year-old boy, says Mayor Darrin Bent, touched many lives. Bent says the softball, baseball and hockey communities are in mourning as is the entire town.
He offers heartfelt condolences on behalf of council and the town to his family and friends. Bent says it’s the roughest time that one could imagine.
The boy was also in day camp and everyone in the camp is deeply affected says the mayor. Grief counsellors have been brought in to help staff and fellow campers through the tragedy.
The RNC are working with the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death and the circumstances. They say they will not be commenting further out of respect for the family of the deceased.
